Fesch Museum of Ajaccio

The Fesch Museum of Ajaccio is the work of a lifetime of Joseph Fesch Cardinal, the paternal uncle of Napoleon Bonaparte. It is also called "Palazzo Fesch" because it was used for the residence of the family of Joseph Fesch which nowadays has become the most precious Museum of the world sheltering a high quality of collection of art, that’s not something you see every day.

Exhibiting close to 18,000 works of which the 16,000 are especially paintings, the Museum has been named the "Institute of Arts and Sciences" by Cardinal Fesch so that the residence can be used to promote several artistic talents. In this context, the founder of the Palais then proposed 400 magnificent works to the public in an atmosphere of modernism and convivial.

Having received the famous label Musée de France, Palais Fesch is located in the village of Borgu in Borgu of Ajaccio. A man of goodness and faith, Cardinal Joseph Fesch wanted to donate his residence to his homeland so as to promote the arts, but also to contribute to the development of tourism and the economy in his hometown.

The Museum presents the finest French and Napoleonic paintings. The building is made up of 4 levels with 27 exhibition rooms ... A surprising detail that also makes the site famous! The site is ranked second after the famous Louvre Museum in terms of representations of the Italian arts. Of course, the Palace traces various Corsican and European masterpieces of the 18th century.
