Leisure activities in Corsica: GR20

Nature and geography in Corsica has are so impressiv. It has an absolutely breathtaking scenery and a varied wildlife. Of course, in order to admire these wonders, you really have to move and go hiking.

As for the hikers who are already professional, the GR20 is the path to follow in Corsica. With a length of 200 km, this pseudo segment starts from Calenzana and finishes in the municipality of Conca.

Due to its somewhat unusual length for a hiking trail, the trip might last 10 days or even more. Obviously, it is necessary to be well informed or to make the crossing with a guide in order to avoid getting lost. In addition, your physical conditions must be excellent, as well as the weather during your stay. This will avoid you from getting in trouble along the way.

It is also necessary to be well equipped to face this perilous path. Obviously, to travel alone is not advised.

This hike will make it possible for you to discover fascinating places, such as alpine pastures and a few sheepfolds. If the  fact of seeing goats seems banal to you, you are gooing to meet some of them from another point of view in semi-wild. You will also be able to see there some mouflons, some races of bats.

Four different trails are available on the GR20. The most recent is that of Transhumance which is located in the territory of Mare e Monti. It is made for the best performers, because the trail is quite sporty.

There is also the "Mare a Mare" trail which consists of different trails, including the Mare a Mare Center which passes through Ghisonaccia to reach Porticcio, the Mare a Mare South connecting Porto-Vecchio and Propriano, and the Mare a Mare North which takes you from Moriani to Cargèse via Corte.

There are also village trails, which are simple strolls in the middle mountain. These trails are accessible to families, as the level is not too "hard".

But the most famous is the Mare e Monti which begins with Calenzana and ends in Cargèse. There is also the Mare e Monti Sud, which makes you cross a path connecting Propriano and Porticcio.
